It's spring in Fredericton - and that means flooding. These photos were taken on April 30, 2005.
A shed and street lamp peek out of the deluge. The intersection of Merril Lane and Limpert Lane. Honest.
This is how you get around downtown Fredericton this time of year. This is the shed where, in the summer, folks rent bikes to ride along the river.
The famous "underwater rugby pitch" (the goalposts are circled). Also used for soccer and snorkeling. Another of the small utility buildings the city has along the river on the green.
Most of the ramps on and off the bridge have been closed due to the flooding. The streets being closed gave the day an almost holiday atmosphere - well, for those of us not trying to get across the river! Half of Fredericton, it seems, was downtown taking photos of the flooding and enjoying the spring weather. In this picture, you see St. Anne's Point Drive - usually an incredibly busy four-lane divided highway, turned by the flooding into an afternoon stroll for local families.
